THE RIGHTS STEMMING FROM RETIREMENT AND DISABILITY INSURANCE
According to the provisions of the Law on Retirement and
Disability Insurance, insured persons and their family
members are entitled to the following rights:
1) in case of old age – old-age pension
2) in case of disability – disability pension
3) in case of death:
− survivor’s pension and
− cash
compensation of funeral expenses
4) in case of a body impairment caused
by work injury or occupational disease – cash
compensation for body impairment
5) in case of need for the assistance and care of other
person – cash
compensation for the assistance and care of other person.
The law, until enactment of appropriate regulations, also
regulates the rights to: compensation
for purchasing special aids for reading and writing – reading machine and Braille
typewriter.
The listed rights are to be exercised through the Republic
Fund for Retirement and Disability Insurance.
The procedure for exercising the rights stemming from
retirement and disability insurance is to be initiated
at the request of insured person, or at the request of
his family member in case of exercising the right to survivor’s
pension.
The application is to be submitted to the competent branch
of the Fund in the territory of which the person was insured
last. In cases when more than 12 months have passed since
the insurance cessation until the submission of the application,
the application is to be submitted to the branch of the
Fund covering the territory of the applicant’s residence.
The application for the rights in concordance with the international agreements on social security, except the agreements concluded with countries which were part of Yugoslavia (ex republics), shall be submitted to the Directorate of the Fund in Belgrade and the Directorate of the Provincial Fund in Novi Sad.
